Lately, I have been having a bit of a hard time focusing on all the areas of my life. Those that I am able to understand and make sense of. It has proven difficult for me to properly find some kind of control in my day-to-day, and it becomes one of those things when the more you try the less you feel you are able to make happen.
There is no doubt in my mind that anything I set out to do I can achieve, no matter how hard it is. We do difficult things because we know we are capable, but it does not mean they are easy. Or sometimes even when they are easy we make them difficult, almost impossible.
I do not think that simply believing in something will make it happen if you don't work hard for it. Faith always plays a big part in the things we want to do or achieve, but I don't believe in luck. You need to work your butt off for them to happen.
I always try and focus on the basics of anything I set my eyes on. Basic habits and behaviours that help us create consistency and discipline to reach that end goal. Wether personal or professional, at work or with the family.
At the moment, I am going through one of those internal battles in my head where I really need to do something for my own benefit, when I need to control my thoughts and focus on the end goal. This is proving more difficult than usual when the switch does not just 'flip' and I feel in absolute control. These things happen and more than ever I need to remain focused on what it is that I want and most importantly I really NEED. These are two different things.
Faith does not define us. It does not take us places by the mere fact that we simply want to get there. But I also believe that faith plays a big part in our actions and what we do as human beings. Our faith define us because it makes us be the person we want to be, because we believe we can.
I continue to work on these habits and values to get to the end result. I have faith and believe I can do it. When your heart and your brain play tricks is a difficult game to win because as much as you focus there are other things at play that want to defeat you. They batter you down with what feels like the weight of a massive cross trying to take you out of the game, but you keep grinding because you believe this is what you need to do and you are certain you can do it.
Just like the song, you have to make it your own, because nobody else will do it for you. Even if nobody else is there with you, and the support you expect is not there, you still have to fight for it.
No matter what the situation or the challenge, always make it your own. Always believe and have faith on what you can do. But do not rest on your laurels or be complacent. There is always something more you can do to have control of a situation, no matter what it is. Will power only goes a certain way if you don't have the discipline to see it through.
Always focus, always fight. Never think there is something you are not capable of, even if others don't know what you are going through.
